A FUNNY THING
Here it is March 2008…God has made good on his promise to me once again. “All my children shall be taught of the Lord and great will be their peace.” Nick has opened his heart up to God. The rages from Post Traumatic Stress are calm now. The war in Iraq is not over, but Nick’s war within is over. The depression, the worry, the guilt, and the sleepless nights are now peaceful. My Nick has finally come home. What a joy to hear him laugh and smile again.
Only God can work all things together for good. I am so grateful for the people the Lord set in Nick’s path. I am so grateful for the people who have prayed for him. I am grateful for my pastor who has a crazy way of reaching people in a way others cannot. I am grateful for the godly influence of Nick’s brother Ben who had about 30 people praying for him during his meeting with Pastor John. Ben had tried to find a certain verse for Nick before he had his meeting and was unable to find it. While praying for Nick, he asked God to just let him know that his brother was ok. He opened his bible and there was the verse he had searched so hard for. He laughed and cried at the same time… God being so awesome…and a funny thing…Nick called after the meeting and said he had been laughing and crying so much he could hardly see to drive.
The next day, Nick drove down to visit Ben in Gulf Shores for the weekend. On Sunday afternoon Nick set out for home. Ben stopped him long enough to hand him a twenty dollar bill. He said…”You never know when you’re going to have a flat”. Then a funny thing happened. While traveling down the interstate, he noticed a woman with a flat on the side of the road and decided to stop. Not only did she have a flat, but she didn’t have a spare tire. As they headed to Wal-Mart, the woman told Nick that God had sent her an angel... and a funny thing… I told Nick that God sent me the same one.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.Psalm 126:1-3
